Great points from RS. One thing though RS, did you mean the primary shaft seal (instead of the bearing) in your first sentence?
Anyway, I did this very same job about a year ago. If you have the time I recommend pulling the flywheel to check the condition of the rear main seal. If its leaking (lets face it, it most likely is) this is the time to replace it. If its not leaking... replace it. In the grand scheme of things its a negligible cost ($12 seal) and its only 7 additional bolts to remove the flywheel. BUT, to do this you will need a Special tool to install the new rear main seal. The purpose of the tool is to evenly install the seal without pushing it in too far, or letting it sit proud. I have seen people make their own, and some have just used a hammer to tap it in which i guess works. But for me I use a tool.
Additionally I would also recommend replacing the clutch shaft cover seal.
Also, do yourself a favor and pick up a seal puller tool. Everyone who works on these cars (or any car for that matter) needs this tool. Its about 10 bucks and worth every penny... and your knuckles will thank you. Do a search for "Lisle 56750 seal puller"
Good luck.
