BobS.
I will take a close look when we replace the balance chain and post to your name with the results. The new parts have not arrived as yet. I keep thinking the valves have to be bent also, but, I cannot detect anything. I will try some fluid and see if it wets on the reverse side. I could also set up a dial indicator and rotate the valve in place to look for out of round/bent shaft. Although I believe in being safe rather than sorry, for this repair the operating guideline I have been given is if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and any amount of our labor is free. It might be different if it was my car and solely up to me. Although we are not experts, we are mechanically inclined and trying to be sure we understand how everthing works, should look, and make good decisions when to fix, replace, or put back together as found. It does add a little more challenge than to replace everything we have the slightest doubt about! Anyway, I will try some additional measures to check valves while we wait for parts. Thanks for your input.
