It would be very good news if you merely have governor seal failure, or really any valve body malfunction since the governor seals and valve body can be replaced without needing a new transmission.
That said, I have not heard of governor seal failure where the car could not be shifted manually. My understanding of clutch failure is that the tach revs and the car goes nowhere. Clutch failure is when you need a new transmission, or a rebuild.
Before doing anything else, you should call Eriksson Industries and describe your symptoms (1-800-388-4418). The people there have been fantasically helpful to me, and have twice saved me from expensive repairs. You must call them before taking your car to any Saab shop. Most shops, and especially dealers, will tell you there is nothing you can do with the transmission except replace it with a rebuilt. This is sometimes, but often not, the case. Also, I would insist on an Eriksson rebuild if I needed a replacement transmission.
