If you want to see the engine mounts you'll need to take the passenger side fender liner off. The back mount is quite near the oil filter and will very likely be covered with sand and muck. The front mount is hard to get at, at least my wrists were barely flexible enough to remove the bolts holding the mounts on. You'll probably need a "deep" socket to get the top nut off of the rear motor mount.
To get at the transmission mount you'll need to take the driver's side fender liner off. The mount is then obvoius on the front end of the transmission.
The bushings on top of the engine are also difficult to attend to. If mine fail again I will probably replace them with the 2-piece polyurethane mounts because they must be much easier to remove and replace. I've heard there's an expensive tool you can use, but I doubt its effectiveness. I removed both bushing mounts from the car and then used a big hydraulic press at the shop at work to remove the old mounts and push the rew ones in. A difficult job, especially removing the front bushing mount (it involved removing the powersteering pump!)
