I've never listened to any though, so don't take my word for it. I personally wouldn't spend over $50 on a pair of 4" coaxials, but that's me. Incidentally, you aren't getting rid of the tweeter, a coaxial simply has a tweeter on top of the center of the woofer.

Door, towards the forward edge, should be a decent mounting location for woofers, though tweeters ideally should be up higher, unless you can angle them to aim up. As to fitting a bigger speaker in the door, well it's certainly as possible as putting any speaker in the door. The problem is with the pockets, which last time I check at not seperable from the door panel. It wouldn't be a simple cut a round hole and drop the speaker in. You'd need to cut the pocket, then find a way to cap it, unless you want stuff flying out the forward edge when you step on the brakes. Of course, this presupposes there is enough room behind the panel for the magnet assembly of a speaker, which there probably is... to find out, take off the door panel, then roll the window all the way down. See if you can get a hole of the size speaker you want to put in, and check for depth and size of holes in the doors behind the panel.

Anything can be done, really, it's just how much time and effort do you want to put in? I'm not willing to cut off a piece of my door pocket, as I find them small enough already, and I find the dash location sounds just great, except for a slight lack of midbass due to the small woofer size (4" do not go low enough to mate well with my 12" subwoofer).
