One other side to the coin:

I purchased a pre-owned '98 CSET auto w/42K miles in perfect condition. Within the first month, it had to go back to the dealer and have the transmission replaced (still under factory warranty, thank goodness) due to it "banging" into 2nd gear when shifting. They said they have never heard or seen a 9K with such a problem before.

Like all the others have been saying, you can never tell how long any make or model car will last (tranny or engine), even if you are the original owner.

FYI: I still have my 1985 Nissan 300ZX that I bought new in '85, and it still has the original clutch with no signs of wear yet (knock-on-wood)...
