The Miata is one of the best handling cars around...

Read my other post for some more info, but I have a couple of questions and a comment. First, you say 15" wheels on the Miata - are they stock wheels; i.e., is your '95 an M Edition? If so, I think it's the nicest Miata ever built. Second, how long have you had it and how much RWD experience do you have? It is very different from the FWD world at the hairy edge where a FWD car will likely understeer and a well setup Miata will be neutral; if not well set up it can be scary oversteer city.
No offense, but the P6000 is not known in Miata circles as a great tire - for the price, the Toyo T1S is considered a much better tire. And having 15" wheels opens up your options alot over the stock 14" on every other first generation Miata.
A few autocrosses will raise your confidence considerably in the Miata. But for starters, make sure the setup on the car is decent - if it hasn't been aligned in a while, have an alignment done - check Miata.net for a sugested set of aggressive street specs - search for the "Lanny" alignment or any post by Lanny Chambers, who has the link to his alignment page on every post of his. Set the tires to about 28psi all around - higher will give slightly crisper handling at the expense of ride comfort, lower is probably too mushy. That's about it - if you don't have experience in the Miata, just drive the heck out of it - they're nearly bulletproof.
