If I understood it right, your shift knob height has not changed, because you lifted the shifhter bearing with some washers the same length that you slid down the lever?
No problems with the rod going to the gearbox (no interferences)? And is this modify "reversible" as it seems to be? I mean, can I come back to the old lever if I won't like the new assembly?
I suppose I'll put this on my to-do list, even if i won't find a leather knob (they are so expensive! and there are so few at junkyards!)
Anyway, compliments for your idea.
