The 9000 "frame" (its a unibody car) was originally designed in conjunction with Fiat (Croma) and Lancia (Thema) back in the early 80's and has been modified by Saab since the 9000's demise in 1998. The 9000 has never had an Opel or GM "frame". The 9-5 shares platform design elements with some GM Europe cars, and the next generation 9-3 is being built on a GM platform.
