Hi Quasi,

Thanks for your reply. It started with the stick popping out of 2nd gear into neutral when I was turning corners. (I know, i know, I probably should have taken it in then). It progressed into popping out of 2nd (and only 2nd) at any and all times... only for a few days.

Then, on Saturday night, it all of a sudden began making the most horrible grinding sound in every gear (well, at least in 1st, 2nd & 3rd gears... I didn't have the heart to accelerate it). Luckily I was just a few blocks from home and managed to limp back to my driveway.

He says there are problems in the differential section (I think)... was hoping it would be on the outside and fixable. He is a SAAB specialist and has been trustworthy for the four years that i've had the car (Embarcadero Automotive).

It's a 1991 Saab 9000 non-turbo stick with around 150,000 miles. I worry that if I pay for this ($2400 plus who knows how much more for that other clutch stuff you mentioned) that something else will break in a few months. The whole reason I have a used car is because I'm broke!

I also have the option of borrowing money from my parents to buy a newer used car, and this is starting to sound like a good idea to me, even though I dearly love "Speedy".
