... when the last of them is discontinued in favour of .... what ... electric power units, say? ... and turbocharged IC engines still give 200hp in only 75% the weight of electric motors and their power source (depending on the relative sizes of the respective fuel tanks, if required) and you can get better performance from an IC engine with manual transmission than the equivalent fixed-ratio transmission on an electric motor as long as you know how to shift properly.
And so what if the cost of petrol (gasoline) is much more than that of hydrogen for the fuel cell. It's all an artificial differential introduced by government taxation...
