Update on transmission noise (please help)...

So this worrissome noise is getting worse. It is a whirring, slightly gritty, rubbing noise that is engine speed dependant and is most noticeable during deceleration in low gears (but is present in all gears). However, contrary to my original post, I now realize that the noise is there during acceleration, it just gets somewhat masked by engine noise.
The most important new discovery is that the noise changes by pushing the shifter around (especially right and left) when in gear. Basically it sound like moving the shifter changes the position of whatever is rubbing. As far as I can tell, this would indicate some sort of bearing problem on the input shaft.
**BTW: The transmission has a tag on it that says "CRS Remanufactured Component" which I assume indicates that the original transmission was repalced with a remanufactured one. I don't have the previous owner's service history to confirm this.**
I also wonder if it could be a clutch related bearing, this would obviously be easier to fix.
What I really need to know is this: Is a transmission failure imminent? Am I crazy to be driving the car at all?
ANY thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
-Kyle
