Yep...it sounds like your DI is toast. I have a 91 9000 S with 124,000 miles and just did a new DI. One of the plastic shafts that go over the spark plugs was cracked and there was oil on the plug and on the DI housing.
You may want to put new NGK plugs in while you do the DI and make sure you gap them before installing. My plugs looked worn and were not gapped properly, perhaps because of being run with a bad DI.
Also, our vintage of 9000 had a DI cassette with a built in wiring harness. The new ones have a seperate wire with a plug on the end of the DI. Make sure you get the wire as well as the DI. They don't make them as one piece anymore. I got mine from my local Saab dealership and they made me a good deal when I told them about how much it would cost from the online places. However, the guys at the parts counter know me pretty well.
