Only if it has a warranty or you took a good look before you signed. My point was that if you are buying a used car the onus is on you, the buyer, to examine the car. That is, you can't assume, like you might be able to with a new car, that all is well. Even a used car dealer may not be able to see everything even though they more than likely saw the belt (probably not the pulleys), the radio, and the lighter. A private individual selling a car may or may not know what all is wrong, but they are getting rid of it for a reason. But in any case, they all live by the "buyer beware" motto and I am only suggesting that anyone buying a used car should live by those rules as well. You just can't cry about what's wrong with the car if you haven't really looked it over and even if you have, as I said before, you have to expect to put in a few bucks right up front. I've had 40 cars since I was 16 most of them European and used (some more than used) and its been that way with everyone no matter how good they looked on the lot or in someone's driveway.
