here's a cheap diagnostic:
fill the reservior up with fluid. get a fiend to pump the clutch pedal while you watch the engine bay with the hood open.

(1)If you can see fluid spraying from the pressure hose running from master cylinder to slave cylinder you've found you're problem. Rejoice and be glad this is easy and cheap to repair.

(2)put you head close to the transmission bell housing, maybe get a flashlight and shine it in the inspection port thereof. If you hear a sqiushing noise, or see fluid spraying, or see fluid dripping down from the bell housing to the floor tear your clothes, lament and sit in ashes - you're going to need a new slave cylinder.

(3) if neither of these try to pressure bleed the hydraulic system. The pedal went to the floor because there are air bubbles in the system that you're compressing with your foot. Ideally you push the fluid which pushed the pressure plate, which lets the clutch disc slip. Air bubbles reduce the push you can apply. In general it seems that most cars like to have new master and slave cylinders installed when new clutches are needed - GENERALY ~100-120K miles.
