If you have a volt/ohm meter, unplug the wire going to the clutch then check the resistance between the end of that wire (compressor side) and ground. If the resistance is higher than a few ohms, the clutch solenoid is burned out. A simple continuity tester (light bulb and battery) will also work for this application.
