I think I'll make a support to the engine, or have one made. There is a bracket there already that the old cat/downpipe was bolted to. On my visit to Abbott Racing, when they had the car on the lift, I noticed that the crappy rubbers I had bought from Halfords and strapped to some Saab rubbers as an extension had almost cracked through. So much so that I could envisage them breaking as I drove back home. I asked them to make a proper bracket and weld it on so the standard Saab rubbers would reach the hangers.
They acted as if they'd never seen a JT system and crawled over it carefully, but they must have seen yours when you were there. They asked lots of questions and at first seemed unimpressed. However, when I told them I got it for less than £500 including shipping, they thought it was pretty good for the price. Ed Abbott reckoned the car ran well on the JT system. They also commented on how quiet it was...
One thing they noticed that I didn't was that I had the downpipe pressing against both oil pipes to the turbo. I've since re-routed them both with a bit of levering so they no longer touch the downpipe. They seemed to think this might only be a problem with the Mitsubishi turbo. Best to keep an eye on this, RedAero93. There isn't a lot of space for a downpipe as big as this, so there isn't much margin for error.
I think Abbott were slightly less impressed than they might have been due to my amateur installation of the system. I don't think I did too badly, though.
They also had a good poke at the SuperFlex bushes. To their credit, they made no attempt to hide their curiosity and told me right at the outset that they were keen to get my car on the lift to have a look. A bunch of really straightforward blokes...
