Okay, I bought an oem rear aluminum control-arm bushing from Saab on Friday and dragged myself under the car on Saturday to replace what I thought would have been a badly damaged or missing bushing on the right-side. Well, it's till there and it looks fine.

I posted to the BB a month ago stating that I hear a "snapping" noise coming from the right front tire area whenever I brake and the car's weight goes forward or backward (when in reverse). This all started when I had smacked a curb pretty hard on that side a few month's ago. I know it is not the brake mechanism. I was told that it was more than likely the aluminum bushing in the control arm.

Now, the existing bushing looks fine, though I can see that the rubber is starting to tear and pull away from the aluminum casing. Am I missing something here? Could there be internal damage in the bushing since there is also some aluminum casing inside that can't be seen when installed?

Also, there's a front bushing, that is of a long tube shape. Is it pressed into the control-arm? Saab said it might be, but that they weren't sure. Is this something that might be causing a problem? It also looks fine, though the rubber bushing is peeling away around the end where it meets the metal casing (not aluminum).

I have no clue what to do at this point. Should I just replace the bushing(s) and see if the sound goes away? At $52 each, they ain't cheap!!!!!

BTW: do I need to remove the control-arm to replace both bushings (front and rear)? I know I can do the rear while it's still in the car, but what about the front one?
