The boost taper is programmed into the APC or Trionic and is normal. Folks with the early APC can modify their box to reduce taper, but this requires fuel mods as well. Aftermarket trionic computers will also have less taper. A certain amount of taper (at least at modified boost levels with the stock turbo) is inevidable as the turbo has to push a lot more air to achieve the same amount of boost at higher RPM. Not really sure why Saab did this, I guess they wanted to maximize mid-range power without overstressing things at high RPM.
