swapping relays for test is good but most Saabs have different relays in the low and high speed fan positions. the low speed has a tie delay latching relay network to keep the fan on for a while
Low speed PN= 95 26 765
high speed = 85 36 401
The reason for the timed relay is for protection of the battery to prevent draining down if the fan switch should stick. The weakest link in this system. it will turn off the fan in 8-10 minutes regardless whether the switch contacts open or not. In my woods some times it requires as much as 15-20 minutes for the cool down to open the contacts. (when it is around 120-140 degrees ambient in my garage- no insulation)
