Here's the page at Townsend's that shows the valve with the "straight" end towards pressure ( the 9k diagram ); it also shows the hooter controlled by a switch like the tcs dump valve: http://216.78.172.244/turbo_folder/toughhooter.htm
I did some more looking and it appears these things get installed either way; the fancy "non recirculating" ones always have turbo pressure trying to open the piston.
I'm beginning to think it really doesn't matter which way it goes!
