Hello all,
Well, I just spent my 4th of July under the hood of my beloved but un-airconditioned 95 Aero. I can quite crack the mystery of extracting the blower motor assembly. I've read the Quasimotor write-up a couple of times, but it doesn't match what I've got under the hood. In particular,
the evaporator has A/C lines that join on the fender side, not on the blower motor side, and there's no cylinder atop the housing (cruise control thingie??). Also, the blower control is on the side near the blower motor side, not the front. All in all, it seems there's *less* stuff in the way than in the Q writeup.
If I understand the Quasimotor write-up, I'm supposed to move the housing to the right, away from the blower motor, but I can't see how that's done.
I can't seem to maneuver the evap housing around *at all*. There's no clearance between it and the right side (US passenger) fender. I can't lift it at all, due to the A/C lines and the ducting that goes back under the windshield. I think I've unscrewed the right Torx bolts, but the darn thing won't budge and I'm quite reluctant to use serious persuasion (read hammer).
Does it *have* to be moved to get the blower out? If so, what's the trick for a 95 Aero? If not, how do I get the blower motor itself unstuck. I've looked all around it for the tabs that I've seen mentioned as the anchors for it, but just don't see them. Are there even there on a 95 Aero?
Sigh. I've got the new motor ($69 from sobstory.com) all set to go. Any help would be enormously appreciated (we're having a heat wave here in Pennsylvania :-P) and pictures would be a godsend (Saab Repairs for Dummies!!)
