No, it's nothing you can do to clear the limphome mode without repairing the cause of the limp home.
Yes, if you know a little bit how to work on cars, you can check and replace all the vacuum hoses and the bleeder valve yourself, and check for, and clean corrosion in wire harness.
Yes, he might or might not give you the faultcodes. He certainly will charge you for fault tracing if you don't want him to keep looking and do any repairs on your car.
The easiest thing a mechanic can do in this situation is to tell the customer that EVERYTHING need to be replaced. With that he most likely will find and cure the problem.
About $3-4000 will replace almost all TCS components.
