If I might respectfully recount my own story.. Having bought a 900T new in '84 and maintained it religiously.. perhaps even more so than yourself, it looks and drives like new as it should with 70k miles ;-) BUT it still sufferes all the classic failures.. including Trans. In dugust I tried an Acura Legend in the early 90's.. total reliabilty, almost 10 yrs use with the *only* unscheduled repairs being a headlight and a muffler.. Really!
My Fool son Killed it 'T boning' a Pickup truck at lethal speeds.. lucky to be alive.. without a sratch yet. Apparently Saabs aren't the only "safe" car, presumably due to major advances in design engineering. Recently replaced it with an Acura 3.2tlS, a year old now and looking to be an improvement over the Legend...Two reasons.. Price& Reliability...Japanese electronics make Bosch seem comparable to the fabled Lucas of yesteryear.
Curiously, Son #1 (the Fool) bought hisself an old 9kT.. for the Turbo :-)
so now I get to 'maintain' it seeing as my car requires.. Nothing..
except basic maintenace and washing.. kinda boring in that respect.
Point of all this was: Buy yerself a New Car.. some are more affordable than otheres and some are well worth owning/cherishing... starting fresh really does have it's advatages.
