As to what BillJ said, definitely make sure there is something wrong with your shocks/struts/springs. From what I have seen on this bb, as well as what I've heard from the dealer, they truly last a long time on the 9000. I'd be quite surprised to hear that they are worn with such low mileage. Other than if the car was used for towing a trailer, I can't think of anything else that would cause those components to wear out so fast.

Could it be that they are performing as they're designed to, yet maybe you're looking for something a little better or tighter? If that's the case, then definitely follow BillJ's advice in replacing some or all of the other suspension parts. I just replaced my rear sway bar bushings with poly ones from SuperFlex, and all I can say is, they're awesome! Completely transformed the WHOLE car. The car feels as though it's stuck to the pavement as I go around curves, and the steering is much more crisp now. All of this from 2 small bushes. My next suspension upgrade will be to replace the rear control-arm/wishbone bushings with poly ones from Abbott Racing.

As to what suspension you have on your car, it is extremely difficult to know or figure out. There has been a plethora of comments raised on this issue on this bb, and unfortunately, Saab did not stick to any real conventions when fitting the suspensions. From what I could gather, it seems my '98 CSET auto has '97 AERO suspension, but I could be wrong. Saab used up to 6 different combinations on the front-end suspension, as well as 5 different ones on the rear. And it mattered as to whether the car was auto or manual, what accessories it has, and the model year.

Though people have said that the '98 did not come with any AERO goodies other than the engine (if it was a manual), and 16" rims, I'm more inclined to disbelieve that statement when it comes to the suspension because of the little research I did into the matter. I think the '98 also came with '97 AERO suspension as well.

Personally, if you're looking for a little better performance, as well as a slightly-lowered stance, then go for the Kilen springs. They were rated extremely high by Abbott (even over their own springs!) for performance, as well as comfort. They are made by Lesjofors (who also make B&G, and oem for other car manufacturers). You could leave the shocks alone, since the Sachs/Boge shocks are pretty good.

Good luck!

Joe
