I installed an ECU upgrade (TAQ) several months ago along with a 3" exhaust sytem of Zeke's specification, and my experience is quite different. Though I can attain boost levels up to 23 psi under ideal conditions (i.e. cool ambient air) and the performance is stunning overall, my mileage actually increased from an already very good level.
I average 26-28 in suburban (city, some local interstate) driving and can hold 40+ mpg at a steady 45 mph or more at times, highway mileage generally being in the 30's. I'd say mileage is up 10% over the stock setup, which was already the highest I'd achieved with any of my previous four Saabs.
FWIW, boost levels can drop to 17-18 psi in hot weather, but this is a limitation of the gas available here (93-octane max). I obviously need more to achieve high boost at all times.
Please describe the "cold-air intake."
