I agree. The design is a step backward from the OG900. They (Saab) should have designed a slave cylinder that would last
for 250k miles or made an access area on the bell housing
that could be removed to get access to the clutch/pressure plate/
slave assembly, like on the OG900's. If you have access to a lift,
the transaxle, along with the drivers' side of the sub-frame, can
be dropped out of the bottom. Otherwise, it's pulling the whole
drivetrain out from the top. Once out, though, it's a fifteen minute
job. Might as well do everything while you're in there - I think the
whole clutch kit goes for about $150 from eeuroparts.com.
