Testing BPV (long) Posted by nick [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: How can I test my bypass valve?, AERO95, Sun, 18 Aug 2002 20:15:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Jonathan, this is simple to check. Follow the hose that attaches to the nipple on the front of the bypass valve (facing the front end> This hose connects farther back in the engine comp. (on my 88 9kt its right near the intake not quite at the firewall on a plastic y connector, im not sure if its exactly the same but just follow the hose from the BPV.) Disconnect this hose at the back end, leaving it connected to the nipple. Suck on the open end. If there is suction the BPV is good, if no suction its bad. If you want a new BPV go to http://www.eeuroparts.com its a site sponser and the owner is a great guy, great service. Can't say engouh about Todd at eeuroparts. Now in regards to the uprated BPV, Todd can get you one. I believe it's about ten dollars more and is the same as on a viggen, it can support up to 20 psi.
Good luck, and follow up.
