Changing the serpentine belt is easier then you think if you get a tip or two from a master Saab tech. I once had a heck of a time getting the tensioner compressed enough to put on the new belt, but with a tip from a friend (Saab tech) the job was a piece of cake. I went from totally frustrated and though I bought the wrong length of belt to laughing my ass off about how easy it was. The trick is use a breaker bar and get on that bolt which goes through the tensioner's idler pulley (don't worry about it coming loose because it's reversed threaded, thanks to Saab engineers.) Push towards the back of the car, and the trick is go very slow and as such you won't need to push hard. It seems that there is like a damper in the tensioner so if you push hard and fast like I used to do it won't compress. Oh another thing is to leave the idler pulley by the power steering pump as the last pulley you slip the belt over, since it doesn't have a flange on it. Hope that helps.
