Have you by any chance replaced brake pads recently, and maybe used Silicon on the back of the pad to reduce squeek?
Some shops are using Silicon and if they let it dry a little bit before installing the pad, or let the car sit awhile before applying pressure on the pedal.
The Silicon dries up and creates an thin layer up rubber cushion between pad and piston. This get the feel of air in the system.
Otherwise, bleeding an ABS system is difficult if not having the proper equipment.
First time I ran into that problem was in Sweden 1988 when we saw the first Volvo with ABS. Before we had always had someone pumping the pedal when bleeding the brakes.
With ABS that doesn't work, and we ended up with spongy brakes until we figured out to pressurize the reservoir and push the new fluid through the system.
Now I have the brake bleeder jug that you apply pressure to and hook it up to the reservoir. This way it pushes old fluid out and replenish with new at the same time.
It's two different ones to buy, one smaller ( 3 Q ) and one bigger ( 3 Gal). The smaller one is around $150.00 and the bigger $300.
