Yes, the AC does play a part in the heating system, sometimes.
But they really are two separate things: the heat comes from the
heater core, the low temperature-heat comes from the evaporator. Both are just heat-exchangers. Where they are related is in the ACC
system and the heater/cooling flap door. Your lack of sufficient
heat may be the flap door, which is common on 9000's. It
could be that the clip that holds the control wire to the lever arm
has fallen off, or maybe the lever arm, being plastic, is busted.
Lack of sufficient heat could also be a thermostat problem.
The thermostat is probably what you should hope for - it's
easier to change than trying to get at the lever arm on the
flap door.
