Hmmm...did you say "blower motor"?

Interestingly enough, I had the blower motor replaced (at least they TOLD me they replaced it...until I get smarter, I'll never know for sure...which is another reason I'm here.)

As some may recall, when I initially purchased the car, it began to make this terrible screetching noise after I'd been traveling down the highway for 50 miles or so. It would not occur otherwise, and therefore I was unable to reproduce the occurrence when at the home of the fine (?) used Saab dealer.

When I had the car independently inspected in an effort to learn the true mechanical status of the car, they were not sure what the noise was either. One gent thought it to be coming from a fan inside the cabin sensor (that's what he was pointing at anyway), and yet another agreed with my friends on this board who kindly told me that it appeared the blower motor was taking a turn for the worse.

It was like pulling teeth, but eventually the dealer agreed to change the blower motor (and he hasn't stopped bitching about it since), despite the fact that he thought my new friends on this board and I were wrong to have made such a determination.

Well, once the blower motor was changed, no more squeal. Tada!

Now today we engage in this present discussion related to cooling, not cooling, heating, not heating, etc...and again I see the blower motor mentioned.

So I wonder...when you mention the "evaporator or blower boxes", is there any connection to that little bullseye-like cabin sensor? There is that little rattle in there (it's back), but it is not consistent. Some days it's there, other days it isn't. (I try to be as complicated as possible. It makes for a very mysterious life.)

I wonder also whether something was improperly done when the blower motor was replaced. I have no idea what I'm wondering about, of course...just that you mentioned the word "blower", so I'm making connections which perhaps I should not be.

When I had the heat running on AUTO-HI this morning, and that rapid cycling was occurring, there was air flowing from the vents, but I'm thinking now that it may not have been as powerful a flow as perhaps it should be running at that level. I ran it this way for what probably only amounted to ten minutes, drove a couple of miles, and that was that.

That dissertation was written in an effort to clarify.

Something's clearly not right, though. "Hot" air is lukewarm, "cold" air is lukecold. (I made up that word...could someone please enter it into the Saab DIY glossary in the handbook?)

I'll check the air filter, too...but first I've gotta find it.
