I just did this job myself, although I didn't pull the engine and separate it from the transaxle. However, here's MHO on each Q:

(1) When you install the head, do you need any sealent along the head gasket?

Don't use ANY sealant on the head gasket. Align it carefully so nothing gets pinched or wrinled as you put the head on. Make sure the alignment pins are in place securely. Carefully lower the head into place so it settles squarely on the block. Any nicks or dings will cause the gasket to leak.

As with all repairs, keeping things impeccably clean is essential.

(2) When you bolt the clutch on the flywheel, do you need a special tool to line up the clutch disk, in order to accept the tranny?

Yes, but you can be creative and invent a tool. On my 87 9K, I used a 10mm? socket (or one whose nose fits into the clutch disk spline) on a 3 inch extension to line up the disk before tightening the pressure plate bolts. You can center the disk by centering the extension in the splines before torqueing down the plate bolts.

(3)Sepentine belt, does anyone have a diagram of how the belts should look after installation?

Look at the devices it drives: the idler pulley, the power steering pump, the alternator, the A/C compressor, the water pump, the tensioner, and the crankshaft (which drives it all!) Then look at the pulley mounted on each one. Each pulley is either smooth or grooved. Grooved pulleys take the "inside" of the belt, and smooth pulleys take the "outside" of the belt. I think the tensioner and idler pulleys were the only "inside" pulleys.

(4)Do I need a special tool for the belt tensioner?

The belt tensioner bolt was designed with reverse threads; it tightens when you push it back toward the trunk. So pushing back with a large breaker bar will compress the tensioner, but you must go slowly and wait for it to compress. The Haynes manual describes how to make a tool to keep it compressed using 2 bolts 2 inches long bolted to an angle bracket and spaced
about 3? inches apart? The process requires a helper; one person compresses the tensioner while the other works the belt.

HTH!
