good idea to maintain. Slipping belt ususally screeches. But you need the see what is the real voltage at the battery terminals. The display is only window dressing. Once you know its accuracy/inaccuracy then you can judge what the elect. system is doing.
New temp sensor is cheaper than a radiator. But try cycling its connection to clean it up a bit. Might be a little dirty connection messing up your reading. Can you get an infrared thermometer from anyone to measure temp at the stat housing and the top rad hose into the radiator? That will let you know if guage at 0900 is truly themostat temp window. Those temp gauges all falling in price and are handy to look for heat leaks in winter and checking the brewski can's temp. (shouldn't open it too soon before it is properly chilled)
