Still working on my '91 9kt. Had the head back on before, tried to start, barely would run, found coolant in cyl3. Found out head slightly wavy (2/1000ths of an inch), had it minimally resurfaced, and tonight ready to put it back on.
Before doing so, however, I noticed that one of the intake valves on cyl3 sticks out more than the other one and won't close all the way when I rotate the cam. It closes when I remove the cam. That cam follower sits a little high compared to its neighbor on the same cylinder. BTW, I looked at the piston crown on that cylinder, and it doesn't look like it got bumped by the valve during my prior attempts at starting the engine.
I'm sure I got each cam follower back in its original location, as I kept them all separate in little containers, labeled and everything. The engine ran fine before, just needed balance shaft chain work and I wanted to renew head gasket now, at 125K miles.
Getting a little disappointed...
Please advise.
