Some years back CU did tests on some mundane cars, none turbocharged, to ascertain relative mileage and performance gains/losses from various qualities of gas. Their conclusion that there was little or no difference, but again they weren't testing Saab turbos.
OTOH, R&T magazine tested a C900T with APC in the early '80's, and it performed 0.7 seconds faster through the quarter-mile with 93-octane versus 87.
I would be very surprised if 89-octane performs noticeably better than 93, but if you are not detonating with the 89-octane it should not be worse, and will obviously be cheaper. If you notice your boost gauge popping back rapidly on full-throttle acceleration, indicating detonation, you might want to switch back to 93.
