Like a little kid, I am all excited about my soon to get new toy, the 94 CS turbo 5 speed acquired rather unexpectedly yesterday morning from ebay in an ambush.

Ran a carfax after the fact. (I know, I know, I am putting the cart in front of the horse. I should have run carfax before the purchase. There is nothing I can do if I find anything wrong with the cas since I already won the bid.) Turned out it is very good. Actually it is more than good. It is a one owner car from MA. He had it at 80 miles. Sold it at 113k miles. That's where the odometer reads now. Clean title, no rebuild/reconstruction, no flood damage, no accidents, no odometer roll back. Essentially nothing bad that carfax can dig up. But of course that doesn't tell me how the previous owner treated the car, something which I have to accept since I bought it on blind faith.

My question is about turbo. Since my current 94CS is NA, all the time I have been simply ignoring the discussions on the board about turbo. Can my fellow SAABers give me a run down of how the SAAB turbo works, in sufficient details? I know nothing beyond the very general basic it runs the exhaust gas to spin an air pump to pressureize the intake air so the engine burns more fuel to gain more power on demand.
