...along with the exhaust manifold. I think there's a picture of the month on this from about a year ago. The middle area is cooled by coolant that comes down from the head around the thermostat and then dumps straight into the water pump. Or maybe the flow is the other way. The shaft spins on a film of oil supplied by a line that appears to come from the back of the block, then it dumps through a thick line right through the front of the block, into the oil pan. Older turbos had only oil, not coolant, and you could "coke" the oil in the bearing area by turning off the engine while the turbo was still hot from driving hard. That's what those timers are for - to run your engine for a minute while you walk away. However, with coolant supplied to the turbo, not necessary.
