Now that I've recovered from the shock of another oil thread, allow me to agree with you:

>> Any of the full-synthetics like Mobil 1, Royal Purple, or Amsoil would be sufficient.

Mobil 1 is by far the easiest to acquire, available at Walmart, K-Mart, food stores, and some movie theaters. Royal Purple, my brand, can be obtained from http://www.oiltown.com at substantial discounts by the case or pail or at most Napa stores at full retail. I buy from a distributor by the five-gallon pail, who delivers it to my door within 24 hours at wholesale.
Amsoil has a unique marketing plan, similar to Amway products, a pyramid-like arrangement where anyone can become a saleman. Be that as it may, it is impossible to find in my area (Baton Rouge), and the nearest salesman is 70 miles away. All of these products are excellent engine oils that can be used 10k miles between changes under normal conditions. My research tells me RP is the top dog and is a favorite among racers of all types (cars, motorcycles, boats, etc.), but others will make other claims, usually without evidence to support it.

>> AC Gold, if you can find one, were pretty good. Maybe Pure One. I wouldn't go near a Fram.

AC Gold is available from Pep Boys, but is otherwise truly hard to find. Fram actually has a decent filter medium but lousy material construction allowing internal leaks around cheap cardboard seals, etc. If the filter leaks internally, some oil is not being filtered.

>> Anyway, my point is you have one of the finest 4 cylinder turbo engines ever built - I'd only use the finest lubricant in it.

Amen, and amen. What are we talking about here? $25/change vs. $15? And at only every three- to six-month intervals, we're not talking about big bucks here.
