3-4 vs 4-3

Interesting.
Mine seems to downshift without any trouble (as in 4-3), and only when you put your foot all the way into it. The shift that doesn't is from 3d to 4th, under light acceleration. It's not like it slips, once it shifts, it's locked in- it just delays before engaging 4th, so that the engine is free to rev up (which I have learned to not let it do).
In other words, I'm slowly getting up to highway speeds, and at about 45 or so, it starts to shift from 3d to 4th. It shifts out of 3d to 'nothing', and the engine freewheels for a couple of seconds, and then 4th engages. If you let it rev up too far, 4th can engage with a lurch.
Interestingly, if you are under boost (ie, hard acceleration) it shifts fine, with no delay.
Admittedly, the kickdown cable could be all out of wack, since I did just put the engine in, and it was from a TCS car, and I had to refit the cable to the 'older' intake from the original motor. It just seems odd that 3-4 would be so strange, and is certainly not a kick-down situation.
Hmmm.
Does the kickdown cable also control line pressure, like on the GM 700r4? If the cable was too loose, I wonder if the 3-4 shift would be delayed due to low pressure? Maybe I better check that out. There's a 2mm gap specified on the townsendimports site- I'll see where it's set now.
later,
-Q
