No start - low voltage issue?

My 91 9k Turbo wouldn't start today at lunch. My first guess is that it'ss a low battery issue, i.e. the battery has enough juice to turn the starter, but not enough voltage to fire the plugs. (the previous owner mentioned that the battery was a few years old, but the purchase date wasn't punched out of it on top). It also reads an ERR code when first started, and has a strange average fuel economy reading, I'm not sure if that's related.
I know that low voltage is a problem with Alfa's with Bosch injection, is this also the case with the Saab fuel injection system? I'm going to buy a new battery tonight and see if it will start tomorrow.
Thanks!
