I'll agree to disagree on the throttle response issue on this model. Along with the new technologies, are more complient/durable materials for shock damping of the engine. I do hope the vector addresses this issue however. As far as the computer upgrade on the vector, I dunno. There is a 35hp increase between the 2 models.
Now the skidpad controversy, I put the car through some pretty hair-raising turns, including a doughnut- forward pulling out at about 35mph, The soft suspension, more luxury car based it seems, followed around. Now this may just be the 'feel' that the car provides it's driver, and the car may be alot better than it feels, but I personally don't like it.
The price issue is also an interesting one. The translation into today's dollars doesn't count for the decrease in materials cost for electronics, composite materials, and such. Which were 'space age' technologies back in the 80's. But, for arguments sake the 9kt is a much more expensive vehicle than the linear, the vector should be more a head to head comparison. I'll re-evaluate my opinion then.
As far as SAAB and the electronic goodies are concerned, SAAB has always been on the forefront of the technology in cars, utilizing I must think what they learned in the airplane manufacturing business. I can count on SAAB electronics to be pretty reliable. The only thing that worries me is the transponder starting system!
For the price, I do think that this SAAB is a great small luxury sedan, with modest power and excelent interior ammeneties. But having driven and being very used to the performance of my 9kt, I was a little disappointed, however, for $25K, I guess you can't have everything.
I'm waiting for the VECTOR, which has a much nicer front end anyway...
