When I last had the original head on I had run the engine for 10 - 20 minutes while trying to figure out why the idle was so high and I was getting so much white exhaust. What I found was the head was leaking coolant so badly the #1 cylinder was sucking a lot of it in and, of course, converting it to steam. Did quite a good job of it too as I had my very own fog bank! I am wondering at this point if the coolant in the cylinder could have affected the rings in such a way that they are having difficulty sealing. I have tried something someone else suggested in a post I found to see if I could feel any suction on the exhaust during any of the cycles and there wasn't any. The roughness does seem to be getting less as I drive it. Just wanted to give this info if that helps anyone understand better what's going on.
