Bubbles in the coolant tank are usualy a dead giveaway for a blown hg, especially when you rev the engine. You may have accumulated a lot of combustion gas in the coolant over time, creating pockets of gases while the coolant gets displaced into the cylinders and burned relatively slowly, in which case you wouldnt see gobs of white smoke. If you do a compression test and 2 adjacent cylinders are low, then you probably have a blown hg. Pull the spark plugs, if they have a white coating on them, this may be from burning coolant that sneaks in. At your mileage, a blown hg is common if not to be expected.
