Hi,
Congrats on the "new" car. What ever the problems are they fixable.
Now a few things I wanted to mention are:
1. A compression test MUST be done FIRST in order to figure the status of the head gasket and rings. Without doing this you may be spending money to fix this engine, when it might be eiaser to replace the whole engine if both rings and HD are bad.
2. This amount of coolant loss and no signs of WHITE smoke make point to other problems NOT the engine but does not EXLUDE other engine problems. Another place where the cooolant be going is Heater Core leak.
Please check the cmpression dry and wet, this will reveal a far clearer picture of your car.
Best Regards
-roman
