it tells me that a "creek" is the outer c/v joint. i'd be happy to scan the entire comments if you don't have the book.
it sounds like OUR symptoms are in the inner as everyone says the symptoms are...but...i have the same "creek" when the car is in a turning radius. haynes claims the "creek" radius turn test points to the c/v while the vibration under load points to the inner driver. very confusing...
your experience has me skeptical to doing the procedure myself, as it sounds rather involved. i have the facility to do it complete with a pit, but do not have front end drive experience.
i'm going to speak with my Saab Indie next week about issues with my 95 CSE's AC, i was going to ask him about the inner driver and/or C/V joint contradiction.
email me a shawn@carboncow.com if you would like to see the trouble shooting comments from haynes as well as any comments my Indie gives me.
