I had the same issue with my old 900 - the A/C would quit after a while, then blow hot air. It was solved by moving the end of the capilary tube (the "sensor" of the anti-frost switch) to a different location on the evaporator, as specified in a SAAB service bulletin. This was much easier to access on the 900, not sure if it's possible to do on the 9000.
