FYI when your battery dies "long"

On Saturday I got home late in the dark. On Monday morning I discovered my battery was completely run down.
After work I came home and jump started the vehicle and I took it for a 10 mile drive to charge the battery. The entire 10 mile drive, the information readout displayed nearly every configeration of lights possible with no rhyme or reason. The only pattern I witnessed was a hovering around 11.6 volts and then a sky rocket flip to 19 or 36 or 95. Then it would crash out and all lights would get "reset." This was about a 20 second "pattern." My gas guage needle also was exibiting some bouncing between actual level 'middle' and low.
Anyway I arrived at my friends house after 10 miles and was going to pull the main fuse and wait a bit. Just out of some flicker of hope, I restarted and POW all problems with this random light madness had disappeared.
So I guess the moral of the story is that when you completely drain your battery while trying to get to work and nothing works when you get it jumped started, fear not, just turn off and turn on. And to think I was already thinking about various parts sources...
