Took my '98 9000 CSE to Saab because felt less power during acceleration at low speeds. They diagnosed for an hour, couldn't find anything... then called back 5 minutes later and said they found a throttle hose connection broken, and they could clean and re-fasten it for $194 (but couldn't guarantee it) or get me a new one for $794. I opted for the $194. THEN, they call me back after doing that and say they discovered the car needs a new IAC VALVE ( or the car will idle irradically). That too would be close to $800. I declined the part (IAC valve), and picked up my car 2 days ago.

Well... now, all of a sudden, since I picked the car up from them.. I have a car that is idling irratically (some of the time) and a bit high all of the time.

I DID NOT HAVE a car that idled irratically before it went into their shop 3 days ago. Is there a reasonable explaination for this (other than the one going through my head, which is that they have tampered with it and are now trying to screw me). How do I all of a sudden have a car which has a screwed up idle?

Thanks for anyone's advice.
