The DI system is awesome and terrible at the same time. Its awesome cuz its so innovative and does sooo much good stuff. It's terrible because the DI cassettes do and will all fail at some point. Every Trionic Saab owner will eventually get stuck as a result of the DI cassette failing. It is absolutely inevitable, and many recommend keeping a spare cassette in trunk. In both my Saabs ('95 9k CS and '96 900 SE) I was lucky enough to have the cassettes fail in my driveway, but many have had them fail out on the road. A failure can leave you with an engine that won't start, or just misfire on one or more cylinders. Isn't it an awfully daunting task to switch the old distributor system to a direct ignition system?? I assume it would require complete change of the computer(s), wiring, ignition, etc???
